With Pen in Hand – if I find It

Do you have a hanging pen? If not, how do you locate your favorite pen each time you look for it?

My favorite pens are the Pilot G-2 bold ink gel pens. The pen is clickable, which allows the point to disappear, preventing ink stains on your shirt pocket.  The bold ink says, “I am sure of what I am writing.” In the event you are unsure of what you are writing, the ink says, “See, you can’t even tell I am unsure.”

Oh, yes, How, Where, and Why do I go about hanging one of those pens?

I purchased an inexpensive device that connects a ballpoint pen to a holder via an elastic cord. I ripped off the ballpoint, and tied my favorite pen to the cord. I put double stick tape on the holder and attached it to the cabinet just above my Mac’s screen.

I can think of two reasons Why I use it:  (1) If my wife uses the pen, it snaps back to the holder, where I can always find it. (2) It keeps my blood pressure down when I need a pen.

What else might I hang on a retractable cord?

Well, it has to be something that can disappear easily, unlike our bathroom scale.

It has to be something that does not have a home of its own, such as my keys, wallet, and sunglasses, which are automatically housed in my top desk drawer.

It has to be something that does not already have a great retrieval system, like my wife’s keys, to which is attached a Tile find-it device.

It has to be something I would like to use at a second’s notice, unlike my allen wrenches for occasionally tightening the chair legs, which are taped to my cabinet.

I just can’t think of anything right now. I did try to hang one pair of my inexorably disappearing reading glasses on a long cord near the Mac.  Only problem was, I would forget to remove the glasses as I got up and, WHANG!  I broke a few pair of glasses that way.
