Next week I will be 75 years old.  That is a BIG number.

I mean, it’s three-quarters of the way to 100.

I will be closer to 80 than to 70.

Just five years away from 80 – and the end of my term life policy.

Ten years away from 85 – the age my dad died.

But wait!

I am sure I have at least 75 things to be grateful for.

The Chance to Live on Earth as Me (1)

Trust in God (1)

Good Parents (2)

Good Sisters  (3)

Good Wife (1)

Three Children (3)

Two Grandchildren (2 – and 1 on the way)

Several Good Friends (At least 6)

Good Education (At 3 universities)

Good Jobs (7)

Cheerful Disposition

Good Physical Health

Good Mental Health

Writing These Weekly Essays

Many Hobbies (100 – and if I only count the top 42, that makes my Grateful 75)

On balance, it doesn’t seem so bad now.  Hey, people say I look younger than my 75 years.  I suppose I could pretend to be 60.  How about 50?  Would you believe 45?

No.  I am what I am: 75.  And, as many more years as I get should be just fine.

Time to jump in my little pool to keep myself limber, and make my smoothie to keep healthy.  I think I will go hug my wife 75 times (I will even settle for 1 big hug).
