With the Christmas holiday season racing through the month, City Hall has posted a comprehensive recycling memo:
If residents generate more recycle material than can be placed in the
mixed recycle bin, community recycle bins are available at:
- Culver West Park — 4162 Wade Ave.
- Tellefson Park — Washington Place and Tilden Avenue
- Syd Kronenthal Park — 3959 McManus Ave.
- Lindberg Park — 11020 Ocean Dr.
- El Marino Park — Diller Avenue
All recyclable materials should be placed in the blue mixed recycle bin and placed at the curb on normal recycle pickup day. If residents generate more recycle material than can be placed in the mixed recycle bin.
Cardboard boxes are recyclable. Boxes should be flattened and large boxes should be folded or cut to no larger than 4 ft. X 4 ft.
Place non-metallic wrapping paper in the blue mixed recycling bin. Metallic paper is not recyclable.
Drop off extra packing peanuts at local private mailing centers. Call first to make sure that the center will accept them. Some stores offer discounts for return of packing materials like cartons and boxes). Local private centers include Mail Boxes Etc.
Ribbons and bows are not recyclable, but they can be reused. Remove them and save for reuse next year.
Place all catalogs, holiday cards, advertisements, junk mail, newspaper and magazines in the blue mixed recycle bin.
