Dateline Dayton – A whirlwind week began when Pauline and I went to a visitation at a funeral home in Pleasant Hill and we welcome our daughter Darlene and granddaughter Heather from Michigan
I took Friday off so the four of us could run errands. Not incidentally, we inspected their new condo to see what still needed to be done. In the afternoon, while the gals went shopping, I worked on income tax returns, I had to complete. Friday evening, we attended a fish fry at a church near our house.
Saturday the gals were off to a shower for our niece in Columbus. I continued to work on taxes, went downtown to the market, attended a funeral for friend, stopped at Flea-n-Teak, delivered a tax return and worked over at the condo.
Saturday evening our son Chris joined us at Jimmy’s Italian Kitchen for a delicious meal.
After church on Sunday morning, Pauline and I, along with our daughter Lisa, drove to Wooster to attend an afternoon concert and an evening student recital. Our granddaughter Ashley participated in both programs. The concert was great.
Afterward, we headed to Jake’s for our evening meal. Although I got fish, Pauline and Lisa ordered the prime rib special. Pauline gave me part of her plate, and it was good.
The evening student recital consisted of Ashley playing the flute and her friend Natasha singing. Both did an outstanding job. The recital was part of their senior requirement for graduation in the music therapy program at Wooster College. They will need to serve an apprenticeship after graduation before receiving their certification.
Monday was a long day because we didn’t get home from Wooster until the wee hours — and I could not miss work. In the evening I had to deliver a tax return. By the time I got home, I was exhausted, but we still went out to eat.
Tuesday, after work, I had to pick up tax information from a longtime client and again we went out to eat. There has been little food in the house because we are leaving today to go south for a vacation.
After work yesterday, we grabbed a sandwich, and then it was time to complete packing.
We are on our way to Florida. First we will go on a Song of the Mountain cruise, lasting five days. Then we will be staying with our friends in Venice, and we will leave Florida for home on Saturday, March 25.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Back in a couple weeks.
