The Most Awaited Publication this week in Culver City is not Hillary’s newest.
It may or may not be more stimulating than Hillary’s book – but it is 120 pages thicker.
The hottest EIR in America – the almost breathlessly awaited draft environmental impact report on new regulations for a corner slice of the Inglewood Oil Field – will be released tomorrow by City Hall.
Six hundred pages of moderately compelling reading – ahead of two community meetings on the sizzling topic.
Sixty days have been allotted for the community to digest and evaluate remodeled regs for the 10 percent sliver that lies inside of Culver City.
“The community has been waiting for a long time to put in updated regulations for the oil field,” said City Councilman Jim Clarke.
“The last time we updated the oil drilling ordinance was in 2010. There was a draft resolution prepared in 2013. We held off on it, though, because pending state legislation was going to have an impact.”
Finally, there was a scotched plan to bring together Sentinel Peak Resources, owner of the oil field, with the City Council and the community two months ago only to have the oil company abruptly bail.
“Once the draft EIR is released tomorrow,” said Mr. Clarke, “there is a 60-day public comment period. Public comment has to be put in writing.
“At the two community meetings, we can answer questions so that people will be able to prepare their written public comments.”
