Jerusalem and President Trump have important – but naturally ignored –common qualities.
Both are heapingly undervalued, under-credited because each one’s mere existence offends leftists — and leftists control the media, many areas of government and thereby dictate popular opinion.
Nobody on the planet gives a darn whether South Gate or Culver City is named the capital of Lebanon, Iceland, Portugal or all three. Breaking for the door, they announce they are moving to South Central for the sun before mankind is vanquished.
But when Mr. Trump recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, as it has been for 3,000 years, every tramp from Obama to Schumer to de Leon feigns a heart attack, leaps into a gutter and wails that civilization has been irretrievably destroyed by an egomaniac in the White House.
Such brilliant thinking also led to Tom Dewey’s 1948 victory over President Truman and to Hillary’s predictable triumph over Mr. Trump 13 months ago.
In that spirit, our new almost-friend, the freelance journalist Noga Tarnopolsky, contributed a fascinating – but naturally incomplete – report from Jerusalem to yesterday’s USA Today.
Buried unobtrusively in the final column of the news section because it contradicts popular leftist (USA Today) wisdom, Ms. Tarnopolsky wrote since Mr. Trump’s landmark recognition on Dec. 7, large numbers of Palestinians have lined up to gain Israeli citizenship.
Secular Jews, other leftists and anti-Semites are shuddering in frightened unison. Mr. Trump’s courageous, historic proclamation – not at all accidentally on the historic seventh day in December – was supposed to signal the end of human habitation in America, along with the advance of climate change and the reversal of numerous Obama resolutions.
Palestinians, accustomed to living poverty ordered by their Arab masters, always have been envious of how well their Israeli neighbors live. With Jerusalem entering a new era of presumed prosperity, they mean to annex a share of the largesse to relieve their starved lives.
