A Political Difference in Culver City

Here is a fascinating twist to Sunday’s doubleheader unveilings of the Alex Fisch and Albert Vera campaigns in advance of April’s two-seat City Council election:

At least a hundred hardline political fans turned out for each event.

But…

I do not believe a single person attended both events – and that did not have anything to do with logistics.

Scheduled for 2 o’clock and 3:30, the Vera and Fisch parties were minutes apart. This is Culver City, not Manhattan.

The obvious distinction was philosophical.

For Mr. Fisch, the crowd was left-leaning.

Middle-of-the-road, I commented, as soon as he walked into Mr. Vera’s garden party.

This division does not prove or disprove anything.

It merely demonstrates, baldly, what was said at the outset, fascinating.

There are City Council meeting and civic event regulars in both crowds, meaning they silently melt together 99 percent of the year.
