First in a series
As leftists and normal Americans brace for the inevitable ascension of Dougie Jones of Nowhere, AL, to the presidency, a talkative “piece-”
loving Santa Monica rabbi – congenitally angry, unhappy or both – is behaving like a good little leftist.
Shortly after President Trump bravely declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel and the Jewish people, Rabbi Neil Comess- Daniels marched over to the Islamic Center of Southern California on Vermont Avenue.
Proud of his response, he posted it on Facebook for the world to appreciate and applaud.
En route to addressing an audience of fervent Muslims, the furious rabbi did not know which to apologize for first:
- Being a Jew or
- Being an American.
For most non-Orthodox Jews — meaning 95 percent of the Jewish community – hardline political loyalty supersedes whatever beliefs they hold about Judaism.
Rabbi Comess-Daniels, a cheery enough chap, is the longtime rabbi of Beth Shir Shalom, which bills itself as not just Reform but progressive Reform, seriously left.
Buckle your seatbelt, Muriel. Our ride will be rocky and rickety.
Rabbi Comess-Daniels was virulently anti-Trump before Mr. Trump knew he had an aunty.
Tucked under his determined arm on the way across was a quisling-like speech, obscenely overblown.
As a fierce leftist, he branded Mr. Trump as despicable for having the chutzpah to confirm Congress’s 1995 vote that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the Jewish people.
How divisive, thought the rabbi.
Clarity being his foe, Rabbi Comess-Daniels seemed to stumble into one theme:
Ain’t a dime’s worth of difference between and among Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
One is as good as another.
No difference between Chillicothe, OH, and Jerusalem as fa as Jews are concerned. What’s the big deal? Jerusalem belongs equally to us all.
