Officials of the Culver Hotel were informed this morning that their 91-year-old operation has been popularly voted one of the 10 Best Most Romantic Boutique Hotels in America.

“Magnificent for Culver City and brilliant for our hotel,” said a jubilant Seth Horowitz, the general manager.

Mr. Horowitz was asked what facet of the Culver Hotel he believes put the namesake of Culver City’s founder, Harry Culver, over the top.

No hesitation.

“The key part about this honor,” he said, “was not so much about what we offer but that all of Culver City came forward to help with the vote.

“Everyone in Culver City believed in the hotel. The fact we have an active hotel with a romantic story as well as 46 rooms done bea-u-tifully, with a mixture of the old and the new, was important.

“The real story for me,” said Mr. Horowitz, “is that Culver City came together, stood by the Culver Hotel, tried to vote it onto the list, and we succeeded.”

“Out of all of the hotels in the United States, we were among 20 hotels nominated by a panel of experts to compete for the title of Most Romantic Boutique Hotel, he said.

“Then it was open to the public to vote. The voting ended at 9 a.m. last Monday, and the announcement was made at 9 this morning that the Culver Hotel is on the Top 10 list.

“The competition was sponsored by USA Today.”
