On the way out of Wednesday morning’s cannabis update for Chamber of Commerce members, community activist David Voncannon sent a message:

Culver City residents w curious or concerned about marijuana legalization in California and in their hometown as of Jan. 1 need to attend community

task force meetings,

They should contact Jesse Mays, the assistant to Coty Manager John Nachbar to learn the dates, times and locations, says Mr. Voncannon.

With fanfare, task force meetings started last spring following the overwhelming statewide legalization verdict of voters regarding Prop. 64 last November.

Once the lights went out on the maiden meeting, community turnouts at task force evets waned to a worrying level, Mr. Voncannon said.

This is most unusual. Culver City’s image is as one of the Westside’s most activist-m9nded communities.

Sacramento is scrambling to formulate binding laws, and as with all matters political, foot-dragging and vagueness are fashionable.

At yesterday’s program, parents worried about how much wider open new marijuana laws will affect their school-age children.

Experts remain prisoners of the state legislature, unable to answer fretting inquiries with definitive terms.
