Ms. Sokol

The Chamber of Commerce did not take a position on the statewide legalization of cannabis last November.

The voters of California decided to legalize cannabis even though it is against the law on a federal level.

It will become a legal business on Jan. 1. The city needs to have an ordinance in place or the state law will cover legalization in Culver City.

MedMen, headquartered in Culver City, is a nationally known cannabis owner, manager, and investor in all aspects of this new business model for California.

On Wednesday morning, Morgan Sokol of MedMen will be speaking at the Chamber of Commerce’s Issues &Eggs breakfast at 8 o’clock at the Courtyard by Marriott, 6333 Bristol Parkway.

Reservations may be made at www.culvercitychambe.com for $35 per person or $45 at the door.

Cannabis, whether you support its use or oppose it, is a fact.

  • Should Culver City approve all seven types of cannabis business?
  • Should we restrict certain types of usages?
  • Where is an important question for the community to be involved in.
  • Should a park be a sensitive receptor along with schools and churches?

The state does list parks as a sensitive receptor.

  • How close should they be to another cannabis operation or to pawn shops, liquor stores, gun shops, cash checking businesses? They are all more restricted than cannabis operations.

Come out on Wednesday to find out for yourself the facts.
