After a brief hiccup against defending champion West Los Angeles, the Culver City 10/11 All-Stars defeated powerhouse Ladera 6-0 on Tuesday, eliminating Ladera from the tournament.
Culver City ace righthander Andy Perez was on his game. He threw a complete six-inning game, just 70 pitches.
Perez dominated, striking out nine, allowing only three infield singles. He did not walk a batter. Ladera failed to get a runner past first base.
On the offense, Culver City started slowly, failing to score in the first three innings. Culver City broke out for five runs in the top of the fifth, as Perez and Martin Lucero each hit mammoth home runs. Third baseman Travers Tobis belted a double off the left field wall, as did center fielder Tommy Peacock.
Culver City scored a single run in the fifth on a Devin Hayden double off the top of the right field wall.
Culver City’s next game is Monday. At 5 o’clock, they will play the winner of the Beverly Hills-Malibu game at North Venice Little League.
