Culver City High School’s lacrosse team entered the coaches poll this week at No. 20.
The Centaurs validated that vote hours later by shutting out visiting No. 17 Brentwood in the second half, facilitating a 6-5 come-from-behind victory.
Brentwood, which opened the season with five consecutive wins before dropping three in a row, had forged a 5-3 lead at halftime.
But with senior goalkeeper Cole Thompson in cage, Culver City allowed the Eagles (5-4) nothing in the second half.
Thompson finished with 16 saves for Culver City (4-3), which has won three in a row after a 1-3 start.
Sebastian Casillas, Peter Pina and Brandon Owings each scored two goals for the Centaurs.
