Dateline Dayton — Judges have been making the news. Judge David Bunning put aside his religious beliefs and sent Kim Davis to jail for not issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. I give this judge credit for upholding the law, which is what all appointed and elected officials should be doing, If you don’t believe in a law, work to get it changed. Don’t just disobey it.
County clerk Kim Davis should not have been in jail. She should have been removed from office on grounds of incompetency, failure to fulfill her duties. I don’t know how that would work, but there has to be someone who could accomplish the task.
She was not going to resign because that would have knocked family members, whom she employed, out of jobs. I am curious to see what lies ahead. Credit, meanwhile, to Judge Bunning.
In football, Judge Richard Berman overruled NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s suspension of New England quarterback Tom Brady. The lot of them, the judge, Brady, the Players Union, the New England Patriots, and all owners in the league have participated in destroying the league.
Even if Brady had nothing to do with Deflatgate, he did destroy his phone, knowing it was needed in the investigation. Dumping his phone indicates something was on the phone he didn’t want others to hear.
All NFL teams should have supported the Commissioner in his decision. It just shows that money is the driving force in the NFL, that lying, cheating, killing animals, beating women, using drugs are acceptable behavior.
Weather We Goest
September means school has started and we are having the hottest weather of the summer — in the 90s for five days, breaking a 79-year-old record. Our bright green grass is growing because we still are getting rain. I know it would be very appreciated up and down California. Here comes our cooler temperatures.
Happy New Year to my Jewish friends!
