Who Wants to Become a Muslim?

First of two parts

May we begin today with two assumptions?

  • Most public school students identify with a religion.
  • Most public school students are impressionable.

Teaching about Islam or teaching Islam – the distinction in classrooms is narrowly distinguishable.

You may have read about a Virginia school district with 10,500 students that shut down last Friday when parents protested over the advocating way Islam was being taught to their children.

Before proceeding: Why is Islam being taught in Augusta County, VA public schools or any public schools?

I realize Islamic influence and sentiment for Sharia law both are making inroads among are vulnerable students.

Digest and reflect for a moment on the spooky lesson this presumably objective, neutral-minded Virginia teacher was promoting.

According to the ultra left-wing, Muslim-sympathetic Los Angeles Times, the boomerang, district-wide protest was rooted in an explosive lesson a Riverheads High School teacher was conveying to her vulnerable teens:

Why calligraphy is significant to religious Muslims.

Their assignment, as the Times slantingly explained, was to recreate the intricate strokes of the Shahada, Islam’s profession of faith.

The impressionable students were to emulate the thundering recruitment-smelling words that were written in Arabic:

There is no god but God, and Mohammed is his messenger.”

Pause again for a moment.

Can you imagine such a controversial lesson being taught about Christian or Judaism?

The ACLU’s stormtroopers would be in the streets before the classroom teacher could duck for cover?

(To be continued)
