Why do I enjoy making popup cards for people’s kids?
I enjoy making the cards, and I enjoy making kids happy.
What if a kid doesn’t like my cards?
How will I know if my cards are appreciated if I never hear from the kid or his/her family?
When I looked at my email a few minutes ago, I saw the following email from Lauren, the mother of a couple of kids, I knew what I was going to write about today.
Here’s that email:
Hi (my real name),
I just wanted to say thank you soooo much for the card! EJ, my oldest, LOVES getting the mail and he was so excited to open your card and see all the characters. So thoughtful!
Thank you so much for remembering
Please send regards to (my daughter) and her kiddos.
Immediately I emailed her back:
Thanks so much for the thank you email, Lauren. I don’t get thank you messages like yours very often.
I am motivated to make more popup cards for your kids. Please let me know what characters/themes, etc. they like. As long as I am enjoying this hobby, I will continue to make cards. I think my old interests in 3D, Disney, and arts & crafts, combined to form this new popup card hobby.
If you email me your address, I’ll send the cards to your house.
Enjoy!!
Hey, you know what, I feel sorry for those kids whose parents are not thoughtful enough to send me a thank-you message.
IMHO, the kids are the ones losing out.
Maybe I should send a note with any cards I send out, saying, “IF YOU SEND A THANK YOU MESSAGE, YOUR KIDS WILL GET MORE CARDS.” Hah! I’d likely be making cards from morning to night that way. ‘Nuff said.
