Obama and Supreme Court Are Confused

Dateline Jerusalem — Which is the only sovereign nation in the world not permitted to choose its capital?  Israel.  In a landmark decision, the United States Supreme Court has determined that the U.S. President, not Congress, certainly not Israel, has the authority to designate the capital of Israel, and that Americans born in Israel’s capital of Jerusalem are not Israelis.

The Supreme Court has declared that Jerusalem is not even a part of Israel.  Like the short story written more than 150 years ago by American author Edward Everett Hale, entitled “The Man Without a Country,”  a man born in Jerusalem is essentially a man without a country, according to the Supreme Court. It ruled that “Jerusalem, Israel” must be removed from the passports of Americans born there.  Although Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish people for over 3,000 years, the only capital recognized by the State of Israel, the seat of Israel’s government, where the Knesset is, where the Israeli President, Prime Minister and Cabinet meet and the government legislates, the Supreme Court says otherwise.

It cannot be alleged that the western side of Jerusalem is “occupied and disputed territory,” except by those who claim all of Israel is “occupied territory.”  The U.S .cannot even acknowledge that “undisputed” areas of Jerusalem are Israel’s capital or are in the State of Israel.  No wonder the Palestinian Authority thanked the Supreme Court and President Obama for their stances on the status of Jerusalem.  No wonder the Palestinians are encouraged by U.S. policy and refuse to negotiate with Israel.  They know that Israel will automatically be blamed for being “uncooperative” in the peace process. and the Palestinians will get everything they want on a platter, a gift from the current Administration that has threatened to withhold its veto and let the United Nations determine Israel’s borders and its ability to defend itself.

Supreme Court decisions set precedents.  The Justices supporting the Administration’s stance to remove Israeli status from Americans born in Israel allege that the issue is that of the executive branch (President) vs. the legislative branch (Congress) with respect to foreign policy.  But their decision gave foreign policy to the executive branch.  As Justice Scalia rightly said in his dissent, the Constitution divides foreign policy between the legislative and executive branches.  The Supreme Court has just unilaterally amended the Constitution so as not to offend the Arab world and its anti-Israel and anti-Jewish supporters.  In supporting the Obama Administration, the Supreme Court has made a political statement in its decision to remove Israel’s sovereignty.  Its claim of giving the president neutrality regarding the status of Jerusalem is anything but that.  It has set a precedent that Jerusalem cannot be claimed by Jews.

Perhaps the Obama Administration and the Supreme Court have become confused by the words “State” of Israel.  When did Israel become the 51st state?  Yet, it must be a stateless state because even the other 50 states can determine their own state capitals.  Why should I be surprised?  Southern Israel has been bombarded with rocket fire this week and the anti-missile Iron Dome system has been deployed to my town as a result, but there has been no outcry or condemnation by the U.S. or any other country.  Last week terrorists vandalized and desecrated 50 Jewish graves on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the oldest cemetery in the world. Again, no outcry or condemnation.  Let’s face facts. Israel is an island surrounded by a sea of shark- eating nations, and to my despair, the U.S. administration is the Principal of the School of Sharks.

Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jerusalem, rightly states, “Just like the U.S. capital is Washington [D.C.], London is the capital of England and France’s capital is Paris – Jerusalem was and will always be the capital of Israel, but more importantly the heart and soul of the Jewish people.”  So true. If you take Jerusalem from the Jewish people, you take away our hearts and souls.  Jerusalem was mentioned in the Torah 700 times as compared to not once being mentioned in the Koran.  Jews all over the world pray in the direction of Jerusalem as compared to Muslims praying toward Mecca and Medina with their backs to Jerusalem.  Yet, the Supreme Court has denied Jews their eternal capital of Jerusalem, stripped Israel of its sovereignty and right to determine its capital, denied those born in Jerusalem a country of birth, and paved the way for a “Judenfrei” (free of Jews) Israel. The most distressing and shameful part of this ruling is that all three Jewish Supreme Court justices were complicit in this horrific action.  I am not surprised.  What can be expected of Jews whose bible is liberalism instead of Torah?
