Dateline Boston — A is for Animated. That’s how I feel when I’m with kids.

B is for Boys. I have a lot of boys in my life, which I never expected. It’s working for me, so I’ll take it!

C is for Chocolate. I have not eaten chocolate in 18 days. I’m doing okay.

D is for Dog. In the summer I worked with a family who had a dog, and the new nanny family I am with has two dogs. I’m learning a lot about dogs. They are a mystery to me.
E is for Eager. I’m eager to begin the new school year! It officially starts for me next week.

F is for Fun. I plan to have a lot of fun this year!

G is for Gym. There have been two times I’ve wanted to skip the gym, but both times I went, and was glad I did! I’m getting my money’s worth, that’s for sure.
H is for Home visits. This week my co-teacher and I visited 13 children in their homes. It’s one of my favorite parts of the school year.

I is for Ice cream. There’s a new flavor at our local ice cream store that I love. It’s called Squirrel Nut Zipple. Peanuts in every bite. It’s delicious (see G).
J is for Jump. Kids jump every day. When was the last time you jumped?

K is for Keys. I have a lot of new keys on my key ring.

L is for Life. I have a great life!

M is for Money. Trying to save it.

N is for Nanny. I’m happy that I still get to be a nanny while also being a preschool teacher.

O is for Opera. We got tickets for The Met in NYC. I can’t wait!

P is for Prince. I still can’t believe he’s gone.

Q is for Questions. I ask a lot of questions at my new job. I’m learning a lot.

R is for Red. Red is my favorite color.

S is for Shake it off. That’s what I told our new parents to do when they’re at school, parent helping. Don’t think about all the stuff you have to do later in the day; be with your child. Take those random thoughts and shake them off (We’ll be listening to Taylor Swift this year)!

T is for T.V. Many people I know don’t have a TV or they’ve cancelled their cable. I couldn’t live without cable or a TV. No way.

U is for Umbrella. I hope we need them soon, because even the east is in a drought now!

V is for Vixen, a female fox. I learned that from a friend while teaching one day.
W is for Water. These days I try to drink 40 ounces of water a day, starting with 14 at breakfast. I visit the loo often.

X is for Xacto knife, a handy tool for a teacher!

Y is for Yes! It’s more positive than saying no.

Z is for Zen, how I try to be (when I’m not animated).
