I Will Have Another, Another and Another

I received a call today from the father of a 20-year-old girl diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder. Her  psychiatrist prescribed Prozac.

The dad wanted to know if I could help her because she had turned their family life upside down.

Both parents were concerned the psychiatrist had only talked with her for 45 minutes. His judgement was too quick, they decided.

Hypnotherapy is very effective for these kinds of issues. Her alcohol and drug abuse were causing anxiety, panic and depression.

I have seen this many times. It can take a psychiatrist or psychologist 600 sessions to accomplish what a hypnotherapist can  in six to 10 sessions. Why?

The psychiatrist and psychologist talk with a client’s conscious mind. A hypnotherapist talks to the client’s subconscious. Realize that we only use 5 percent of the brainpower we have available to us. Of that 5 percent, only 10 percent is our conscious mind, 90 percent subconscious. To create change, it must be within the subconscious. Hypnotherapy is effective because it addresses the subconscious.

When a client is hypnotized, the conscious mind shuts down, leaving access to the subconscious open. This  allows for greater concentration and quicker resolutions.

The young lady in question has an allergy to alcohol, causing a storm of violence and anger, common among alcoholics. She also has a strong sensitivity to sugar, the other main component of her problems.

Her alcohol consumption and infrequent eating of unhealthy foods was causing wildly fluctuating sugar levels. When fed or drunk her sugar levels spiked. When dropped, she panicked.

It became important for her to regulate her eating and to stop her drinking. Once she did that she quickly recovered.

Transforming her diet from carbohydrates to a protein-rich one, she began to regulate her blood sugar levels.  She became calmer.

As a result of the protein, she functioned from her higher level consciousness.

Her anxiety came from her low sugar spikes. When the brain cannot find the sugar it needs within the body, it will create its own sugar, sparking a  perceived fear to cause adrenaline. With adrenaline, the brain calms and the anxiety eases, only to return in 30 minutes when the same routine repeats.

When eating protein regularly, there is no need to cause a fear for the sugar.

Responding to the protein-rich diet, the young woman was feeling better inside of 96 hours. She shortly stopped drinking and recovered.
