Dateline Washington, D.C. — The Green Party of the United States today has recognized two candidates for the Green presidential nomination, Jill Stein and William Kreml.
Both have fulfilled all the requirements for official recognition, qualifying their campaigns for access to party resources.
The nominee will be chosen Aug. 4-7 in Houston at the Green Party convention (http://www.gp.org/pnc-2016).
Delegates from state Green Parties will participate.
The Green convention will feature panels, workshops, and plenary sessions of the Green National Committee.
The party will hold press conferences featuring Green candidates, especially those running for the presidential nomination and for public office in Texas.

As for the two nominees:
• Dr. Kreml is distinguished professor emeritus in the Political Science Dept. at the University of South Carolina. Author of nine books on political theory, American government, and constitutional law, his latest work is “The Bias of Temperament in American Politics” (2014).
Dr. Kreml ran for president in 1984, and in the 1992 South Carolina primary. He competed in the South Carolina Democratic caucuses in 2000, running on campaign finance reform and engaging in civil disobedience by violating F.E.C. guidelines.

• Dr. Stein, who practices internal medicine, served on the board of Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility. She co-founded the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities. She also serves on the board of MassVoters for Fair Elections. Dr. Stein ran as a Green candidate for governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010. In the 2012 election, the Green Party had presidential ballot lines in 37 states including the District of Columbia, reaching 82 percent of voters. The Green Party is currently on the ballot in 21 states. The party is aiming for ballot lines in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
