Dateline Dayton — Did you watch The Debate last Thursday? I found the candidates acting civilly toward one another. Sure Donald was receiving jabs and was dishing them out.
I do believe the moderators were hard on Mr. Trump, but I disagree with some comments, especially regarding bankruptcy. The leader of a company filing bankruptcy should not be allowed to come away perfumed while small companies and individuals are hurt. The CEO/owner should share the hurt. Mr. Trump said everything he did regarding his companies’ bankruptcies was legal. Planned Parenthood is saying everything they have done is legal. That does not make either party morally correct.
I believe Donald Trump is leading the polls because he say what he feels and doesn’t care if it is politically correct. I agree politicians spend too much time making sure what they say is framed to appeal rather than serve as the blunt truth, where they stand, how they are going to solve our problems.
This country has many problems that never will be solved if we go around making sure we don’t offend someone. In the big picture some feelings are going to get hurt. After all the United States has done for individuals and countries across the world, many don’t like us. They have no problem telling us how they feel — and we keep the money rolling.
Don’t take this the wrong way. We should not be nasty. Just stand our ground. We did not do this with Iran. I hope the Iran agreement is good deal for America, if it does get approved. Even Democrats are not going to vote for it. That worries me. How much protection do we have in the Iran agreement?
The fact that we couldn’t get the release of Americans being held in Iran is a perfect example of a deal that is not in our favor. I would have thought that subject could have been one of the first agenda items the Obama administration would have insisted on. Should have been easy. Now we are going to shower Iran with money.
Tuesday evening found us back at the ballpark for a Dayton Dragons game. It had been over two weeks since we have been to a game. Although the morning started out cloudy, the sun came out at noon. We enjoyed a beautiful evening of baseball. We didn’t need to take rain gear, but we did have our jackets with us since the weatherman was predicting it would be cool. We the didn’t need them. But the Dragons needed help. They lost 2 to 1.
Don’t Let It Melt
Yesterday Pauline had to go to the doctor with her brother, and I was back at the Learning Tree Farm for an Ice Cream Social. This time I went as a patron, not a worker. A small but nice event.
In the evening we went to Covington for a pork sandwich with my sister and her husband. The sandwiches are great and the price is right.
