[Editor’s Note: Before poetically urging her neighbors to vote tomorrow, Culver City’s Honorary Artist Laureate for Poetry filed the following update this morning on the condition of her husband.]
To date, Charley has had six blood transfusions and five chemotherapy infusions. We are still uncertain of the eventual prognosis. We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
Since tomorrow is Election Day, I wanted to let you all know that we both have mailed our absentee ballots.
Although our health may not be up to par, we all really need to make the effort to cast our votes. Here are a few lines about Charley that may give you some inspiration tomorrow. And please…
Take Note and Vote!
Sometimes the world upsets your plans
And takes ability out of your hands
To do the things you used to do
Like shave yourself or tie your shoe
But even though you cannot drive
You still can think – you’re still alive
And though you can’t make it to the polls
The bells for you have not yet tolled
So you marked your ballot as neat as could be
And were proud to vote as an absentee…!
