Dr. Cassandra Ziskind has been selected by the School Board as the next principal of El Rincon Elementary School.
When she takes office on July 26, she will become El Rincon’s third principal in a year.
Dr. Ziskind has spent the past three years as principal at Helen Keller Elementary in the Lynwood Unified School District.
The Keller campus recently was honored as a California Gold Ribbon School and a Title 1 Academic Achievement Award winner.
“I’m excited to join El Rincon and the Culver City Unified School District,” Dr. Ziskind said. “I had the good fortune of meeting El Rincon students, parents and staff at a School Board meeting. Everyone was so welcoming.”
Dr. Ziskind brings 26 years of educational experience to the El Rincon campus.
Besides serving as a principal, she has been a Resource to Intervention Expert, teacher, math coach and Categorical Program Coordinator.
Her Lynwood Title 1 school, with a majority English-learner enrollment, and has made impressive academic gains during her three years as principal.

Dr. Ziskind earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from University of Houston. She holds two master’s degrees, in elementary education from Roosevelt University in Chicago and in educational leadership and administration from Cal State Northridge.
In 2013, she earned her doctorate in urban education leadership from USC.
