Within hours, the Big Five in the April 12 City Council election for three open seats will have slid safely across home plate.

Friday is the filing deadline for the Big Five and the Little Three others.

Here is how they line up:

  • Scott Wyant, Mr. Punctuality, was the first to submit his signed papers – along with the requisite minimum 20, maximum 30 signatures.
  • Just as you were preparing or ordering lunch late this morning, Goran Eriksson knocked on the first floor door of City Clerk Martuin Cole at City Hall.
  • This afternoon, incumbent Meghan Sahli-Wells and Marcus Tiggs held appointments to turn in their completed papers to Mr. Cole.
  • On the morrow, Thomas Small, who officially ignited his campaign less than 24 hours ago, has an appointment with Mr. Cole to make his candidacy formal.

Unless the sun or the moon tumbles out of the sky during the next 90 days, the 60 percent reorganized City Council will include three of the five names identified above.
