A dozen days before his neon fundraiser at The Culver Hotel – Sunday, Jan, 31, 5:30-7:30 – Scott Wyant may be the City Council candidate who is having the most fun.
His bubbling schoolboy enthusiasm for what many veteran politicians regard as mandatory drudgery is recess time for Mr. Wyant.
“I have been walking a lot, like everybody, and talking to many, many Culver City people,” he said this morning.
“It seems to me that campaign themes I am emphasizing are resonating with voters.”
Mr. Wyant’s headline topics:
- “Culver City is a great place to live.
- “Most of the problems we are having in Culver City are a result of the fact this is a great place to live.
- “Voters generally are pretty satisfied with things in the city.
- “Those concerns can be addressed – except for intractable ones such as traffic. Those problems are caused by living in one of the more desirable places on the planet.”
Mr. Wyant suggested that when the three open seats on the Council are resolved on April 12, new members will not be climbing a mountain, chasing nearly uncatchable problems.
“If miracles were called for, I would not pretend I could perform miracles,” he said.
“One reason I am interested in this job is that it is a collaborative job, a job for five well-meaning people who have the best interests of Culver City at heart, working together to get us there.
“I have said more than once: There is no monopoly on good ideas from any part of the political spectrum, any part of the economic spectrum.”
