The vice mayor of Culver City declined this morning to take a stance on non-resident parking privileges in the tinderbox that is the10700 block of Farragut Drive.

It will be the dominant theme of this evening’s 7 o’clock City Council meeting.

To the question of how he expects the vote to go – permit parking vs. 2-hour time limits — Jeff Cooper said he is “looking forward to hearing from the community, and looking forward to having a discussion with my colleagues on the Council.

“I want to finally move on with this issue” that has been argued since at least 1982.

Mr. Cooper remained firmly neutral on which side could/should prevail.

“Nothing is really clear to me on that,” he said.

“This disagreement (between Grace Lutheran Church members and Farragut neighbors) has gone on long enough.

“I just want to be able to, hopefully, reach a resolution with all parties.”

Did the consultant’s findings surprise the vice mayor.

Mr. Cooper paused. “Not really,” he said. “As somebody who has driven by on that block many times, I was not surprised.”
