Mr. Tiggs, Council candidate

Marcus Tiggs, who has promised to bring a fresh brand of efficiency to City Hall if he is elected to the City Council three months from today, will host the second in a series of complimentary community barbeques on Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Tiggs, an attorney, and his team will be at Carlson Park, at the intersection of Braddock Drive and LeBourget, from 12 noon until 3 o’clock.

A two-term member of the Planning Commission and a retiree from military service, Mr. Tiggs has centered his run for office on improving efficiency at the core of municipal government.

Talking space on this subject has not been crowded.

What is the Tiggs plan?

“It is taking a look at each department at City Hall,” he said, quickly adding, “that is the city manager’s role. He talks to each department head and says, ‘Look, we need to increase efficiencies. Give us recommendations. The Police Dept. will have ideas. Everyone has to come up with an idea.’”

More Tiggs talk on that theme is promised for Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Tiggs’s extensive community involvement spans almost two decades. This includes 10 years on the Fiesta Ballona Planning Committee and eight years on the Planning Commission.

  1. Yes, I support Marcus Tiggs for election to City Council in April 2016. Here is why: When Mr. Tiggs first ran for City Council in 2004, Marcus said that he wanted to be more involved and serve the Culver City community. As Park Commissioner Rep to the Fiesta La Ballona Committee, I took Marcus at his word and invited him to serve on the Fiesta Committee, where he has now served Culver City for ten years with distinction by raising funds to support Fiesta. Also in 2004, I encouraged Marcus to apply for appointment to a City Commission. Eight years of successful service on the Culver City Planning Commission soon followed.
