Patience is required while the numerous moving parts of spending plans for the school improvements bond gradually unfold before the eyes of curious School District officials and the School Board.

Tentativeness is another watchword.

After sorting through numerous entries, the School District has hired an architectural firm, Rachlin Partners in the Hayden Tract, to design the first major building project.

Mike Reynolds, assistant superintendent for business, explains the choices of winding paths this plan may take.

“Rachlin Partners is working with providing us with information regarding options for constructing science classrooms and labs at both the high school and the Middle School,” he said.

Starting date for construction is undetermined.

“Depends on which of three options the Board chooses,” said Mr. Reynolds.

“If we were to choose a construction method where part of the buildings were constructed off-site and a component of construction is performed on-site, each comprising about 50 percent, that would reduce the amount of time over traditional construction methods.

“That is one option we are considering because of the timeline to bring it online,” Mr. Reynolds said.

“This is the shortest timeline for constructing new buildings. But it is too far into future yet to predict when it will be started or completed.”

“Modernization of existing classrooms” is a second option being examined.

The third choice is traditional construction strategies.

Meanwhile, learning is not being delayed.  “We have science labs within both the Middle School and the high school at the moment,” Mr. Reynolds said. “One option would be to modernize them.”

He said that building labs/classrooms on-site and off-site is the fastest option.
