Fifty visual art students from the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Culver City High School are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for their exhibition, “Room 1” at the Culver City Art Walk on Saturday afternoon from 2 o’clock until 6.

The site will be a pop-up gallery, 8575 Washington Blvd., in the Culver City Arts District. The pop-up will be a shared gallery space with the Global Trunk.

The Art Walk is intended to introduce a wider audience to the area’s established art scene, which includes spaces in Culver City as well as along its Los Angeles border.

This event especially celebrates the Culver City Art District, a cluster of galleries exhibiting emerging and established artists.

AVPA Art students are submitting piece after piece since they will, for the first time, be able to showcase their art in Culver City Art Walk for all of Culver City to see.

AVPA Art senior Harper Barth shared her enthusiasm.

“I am so excited to exhibit artwork in a unique and creative space for the first time,” Ms. Barth said.

“I hope it will lead to great opportunities in the future.”

Ranging in medium from book arts to drawing and painting, the public will be treated to a scene where an industrial space has been transformed into a pop-up art gallery filled with artwork of every kind.

Freshman AVPA Artist Amalia Camey believes “the Art Walk will be great for teens trying to earn recognition.

“Being able to show our artwork to the world is amazing since we are high school students. I never thought my art would be shown in a gallery setting.

For senior Katie Handler, the Culver City Art Walk is “a valuable learning experience I will never forget.”

The AVPA Art Dept. thanked
Noah Baylin, Fresh Paint Art Advisors owner Josetta Speglia, Graphaids and the city of Culver City.

Culver City Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of local art galleries, retailers, restaurants, and creative spaces presented by the city.
