Culver City Senior Softball Assn. team captains will draft players on Sunday in preparation for Opening Day in late January.

Games are held Sunday mornings at Veterans Park, on the corner of Overland Avenue and Culver Boulevard.

Men ages 55 and older and women ages 45 and older — of all skill levels — can be added to team rosters or be placed on a free agent list by meeting players and league administrators at the softball fields on Saturday and Sunday mornings. League fees are around $100 for the 10-month season.

One hundred senior softball players play in the year round high-arc slow-pitch league.

It provides an opportunity for members to have fun playing a game they love and for making new friends.

Defying the ravages of aging, senior softball players hit, run, field, throw and joke around as if the clock has been turned back to halcyon days for just a few hours every Sunday morning.

Richlar Partners recently defeated first place and defending champion Sorrento Market, 14-11, to win the annual league title.

Richlar Partner players are Frank Delgado, Steve Fiske, captain Gordy Gershman, Dale Lewis, Reggie Mason, Cathy McNamee, Steve Nicholson, Bob Richardson, Glenn Schoenfield and Alan Sperling.

Rich Jebejian returns in his third consecutive stint as commissioner. Bill King is league administrator. Glenn Honda, Jesse Miciano and Fred Brown prepare the fields.

Sponsors are South Bay Realtor BrokButcher.com, Sorrento’s, Factors Deli, Lisa’s Cantalini Salerno Beach Restaurant, Galen Financial Advisors and Johnnie’s Pastrami.
