For months, large, influential law enforcement agencies across the country have been lining up behind Donald Trump, and against Hillary Clinton.
Not in Culver City, however.
Since law enforcement traditionally leans right, one might guess that Chief Scott Bixby’s officers will be cheering for Mr. Trump this evening.
Hours before the first presidential debate at 6 o’clock on Long Island, though, the department is not talking.
Has not been. Won’t be.
Unlike many other police agencies, political chatter in Culver City is kept within walls of police headquarters on Duquesne.
No one in the department agreed to be quoted by name.
However, it appears that sentiment in Culver City favors Mr. Trump.
More than once officer said that discretion was crucial in these socially fragile times. “People already think we are biased,” said one middle-aged cop. “Mix in a political opinion today, and matters only will grow worse.”
