Dateline Pasadena – Turmoil did not walk out the door of Pasadena City College last August when former President Mark Rocha was given a husky shove toward the exit.
The Academic Senate of PCC has registered a no-confidence vote in the Board of Trustees for “their failure to uphold and value shared governance values,” a familiar cry from the Rocha era when the Board was seen as his unswerving ally.
The Academic Senate said that the trustees have abridged “the general rules of fairness and openness in their dealings with campus constituent bodies.”
Their central charge is that by these perceived actions the Board is jeopardizing the college’s accreditation.
“The Board must follow its own policies and conform to the California Title V Shared Governance guidelines,” the Senate said.
The accusatory paper said that the Board of Trustees “has avoided meaningful contact with faculty, staff and students, is out of touch, resulting in a lack of collegiality that compromises the forward movement of PCC.”
