The Culver City Chamber of Commerce is not just a business organization. It aims to be a resource to the entire community.
The Chamber has a long record of supporting their local school districts over the last seven decades.
This includes support of every parcel tax and school bond issue as well as involvement in other school programs.
When Chamber members convened yesterday morning for its Issues and Eggs Forum, where Dr. Josh Arnold, new superintendent of the School District, spoke.
With the opening of Culver City’s year-long Centennial celebration two weeks away, Chamber Chair Colette Moore presented Dr. Arnold with 24 copies of city historian Julie Lugo Cerra’s well-received account of the community’s first 99 years.
The Chamber will be contributing two history books to each private school that is a Chamber member.
Ms. Moore told Dr. Arnold that “giving to education during the Centennial Year celebration will be a lasting contribution to our schools about the importance of history.
“Julie’s commitment to history and education can be shown by giving our children a sense of the importance of Culver City history.”
The official Centennial History Book goes on sale Tuesday, Sept. 20, the 99th anniversary of Culver City’s incorporation.
There will be a booksigning that day at Westfield Culver City, 5 o’clock to 7, at Center Court.
