Re: “LaRose About to Start a New Life”

School District Supt. Dave LaRose, who resigned two weeks ago, did not arrive here four years ago with a career timeline in mind.

What changed?

No hesitation.

“There have been some significant milestones in the LaRose family household,” he said. “This is 100 percent personal. My youngest graduated. So both daughters (Madison and Lindsey) have graduated school. My wife (Mindy) just graduated as well. She finished her program in graphic design at UCLA. She is an intern at the J. Paul Getty Museum right now.”

A LaRose family portrait with sparkling new rhythms is emerging.

“I am grateful for the years she has supported me in my career,” said Mr. LaRose, headed for a creative family sabbatical without parameters, contents and length to be determined later.

“I have an interest in giving back and making sure that our next decision is done together with an emphasis on what her next step might be.

“Those are fairly significant milestones in our family.”

A career photographer, Mindy LaRose is interested in working in logo, branding and graphic design. “But we are not quite sure of the next step after her internship,” the superintendent said.

“We will be prepared to explore doors that might open.”

To be clearer about the immediate future, “the language that my wife has encouraged for me is really looking at the lens of a sabbatical,” Mr. LaRose said. “I will take time to catch my breath and step back a little.”
