How many 50 year old educators say no, thanks, to the highest paying jobs of their careers after four years, and exit without a precise position in hand?
“Mindy has been an absolute rock,” Mr. LaRose said. “She has been encouraging me. She recognizes that we do it together and have strong faith and trust that the next chapter will be as abundant as the previous. And we are going to be okay.”
When Mr. LaRose thinks about Culver City five years from now, what image of his tenure will take shape in his mind?
“Initially, there will be gratitude,” he said. “There had been transition and a bit of turnover in real key roles when I came here four years ago.
“Coming in and being able to connect with so many stakeholders and kind of rally around a common and shared focus as opposed to fractured approach.
“To be able to look at specific accomplishments that will last for years to come,” and Mr. LaRose naturally cited passage of the vote on the $106 million bond Measure CC two years ago as the No. 1 touchstone.
“Measure CC,” he said, “was significant, not just for what it will do for facilities but the process that led up to that was push and pull ,” convincing the crowd of skeptics.
