John Riordan of Riordan Plumbing received a plaque this week from the Culver City Centennial Celebration Committee at its monthly meeting in City Hall.
As Riordan Plumbing approaches its 50th year of service to the Westside, Mr. Riordan can count dozens of community awards.
“John Riordan is the first business owner to contribute to the Culver City Centennial Celebration Committee,” said former Mayor Paul Jacobs, Centennial vice president.
“He personifies the strong support that the people of Culver City have for their community.”
Committee Chair Jim Clarke said the vote is a virtually unanimous.
“John has been recognized by almost every organization in this city for his participation in worthy causes,” he said. “We are pleased to add another honor to his Wall of Fame.”
The Centennial Committee has raised or received commitments of $50,000 from individuals, organizations and businesses to conduct the city’s year-long birthday party, according to Fundraiser Chairman Terry Robins.
“Participate in our Centennial as a sponsor, activity leader or other ways,” Mr. Clarke said. He suggested calling 424. 258.0112 or emailing CulverCity100@gmail.com.
“We want everyone to join in the celebration,” said Mr. Clarke.
A Downtown parade of community groups, a ceremony with special guests and a street party will open the Centennial’s 12 months of activities on Sept. 24 of next year.
