Longtime Santa Monica resident and community activist Jerry Rubin today has been named an assistant editor at the Santa Monica Daily Press.
In the next week, the Daily Press says it will be hiring two other local community leaders who will serve in the three newly-created assistant editor positions.
Daily Press President Ross Furakawa, Publisher Rob Schwenker and Editor Matthew Hall say that with the opening of the three new assistant editor positions the paper is looking to further enhance and diversify the paper’s local community perspective.
Mr. Rubin says that in taking the position he has agreed to not run again as a candidate for City Council or any other elective office in the Nov. 8 Santa Monica municipal election.
