Re: “Should We Feel Fear of Muslims?”
Islam is not and has not been promoting or causing the chainsaw terror that Muslim-identifying men and women have been committing, says City Councilperson Meghan Sahli-Wells.
“It is not the religion that is perpetrating these acts of terrorism,” she said. “It is a band of chaotic, nihilistic, people.”
Contesting the tone of an essay that appeared here last month, saying of non-Muslims visit a mosque they should come armed, Ms. Sahli-Wells contends:
“Your article conflated a religion with a certain group of people doing horrific acts. They are doing it in the name of religion, but they do not represent that religion?”
Oh, really?
Is it the sheerest coincidence in the history of the world?
How does a defender explain that all of these men and women marauders, behaving like prehistoric animals while loudly championing Allah, just happen to be Muslims. They are not remotely Christians or Buddhists but guys and girls who know Islam intimately?
