Mr. Eriksson

George Washington was first in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen.

Goran Eriksson is first everywhere else.

With an anticipated six candidates for three open seats on the City Council, there will be a scramble for attention the next four months.

Mr. Eriksson is today’s winner.

Ahead of his five rivals, Mr. Eriksson was the first person into City Clerk Martin Cole’s office this morning after the 7:30 opening to pull papers in what should be an intense, high-profile race to April.

First is becoming a habit with the international business entrepreneur.

Last spring he was the first to announce he was competing for a City Council seat one year hence.

For his launch party two weeks ago, Mr. Eriksson attracted what appeared to be the largest opening day crowd of supporters.

Gathering speed as he goes, momentum is with his campaign while The Force is busy at the movies.

He reports that fundraising is going well, and that is the most encouraging of signs for a candidate.

Mr. Eriksson estimates that, based on fundraising experiences of candidates in recent years, he will need to raise between $25,000 and $40,000.
