Thomas Small, the architecture journalist who may bring the most unique resume to his first City Council race, was beaming yesterday morning at the Chamber of Commerce candidates forum.
“The campaign is going great,” he said with fervor and conviction. “It’s very exciting. A new thing for me. Something new every day.”
His favorite moments come when he is walking the neighborhoods of Culver City, knocking on doors.
“Talking to voters – I like that best,” he said.
On Monday, Mr. Small was one of three candidates recommended for endorsement by the County Democratic Party, whose board votes next week.
The best part?
“I like the newness of it, the excitement of it.
“So far it has been very collegial, and I think that is terrific,” Mr. Small said.
“When I talk to the older City Council members, they talk about how friendly it was in the past. They all went to each other’s events.
“I would love to help with that spirit,” said the international writer who brings a major commitment to the fine arts to the race to April 12.
“Working together, we can accomplish a lot.”
