I have been making and manipulating pictures on my computer longer than I can remember. Just last week I asked myself, “What will I enjoy doing now, now that I am no longer into my hobby of making cartoon posters using Picasa?”
With my artistic motivations gone, I was afraid that there would be a huge creative void. I would be saddened.
Then the shower drain backed up.
Once I fixed that problem with the help of a hose, a snake and Drano, the garage door would not open.
Once I fixed that problem with the help of brackets, bolts and nuts, my wife asked me to fix the Lazy Susan cabinet door.
Once I fixed that problem with help of a screwdriver, I made a surprising discovery.
Those fixes exercised my creative juices. They were fun.
I had nothing to fear – as long as things got broken.
Hey, I can wax creative organizing my photos, videos, and other computer files while I wait for things to fall apart.
It seems there is nothing for me to worry about because there are so many forms of creativity to explore.
My wisdom for the week:
Closing a door on a hobby only leads one to another door. If that door is broken, have fun fixing it.
