Re: “Falcons Are Builders of Children Under Construction”
On April 13, Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, released a new study, Map the Meal Gap 2015, which found that Los Angeles County is home to the largest population of food-insecure people.
More disturbing, the study said that the largest group of food-insecure children is in Los Angeles County — nearly 600,000 children, 1 in 4, live at risk of hunger.
Punch One: Thanks to a special grant from a local foundation, the Water Buffalo Club, Falcons Youth and Family Services has a custom-designed and built mobile food kitchen with a powerful mission”
Provide free healthy meals to children.
This summer the non-profit agency will partner with the state Dept. of Education and the Summer Food Service Program to bring free healthy meals to more than 2,000 kids a day throughout Los Angeles County.
Punch Two: Falcons Youth and Family Services will partner with the city of Los Angeles’s HIRELA’S YOUTH Program to provide summer jobs for inner city youth. What a power punch: Inner city youth working to help feed inner city children.
In 2005, my wife Karen and I founded the Southern California Falcons Youth Football and Cheer Organization. However, the Falcons Youth and Family Services group was started after recognizing a need for more than just a youth football and cheer program in the area.
The mission of the Falcons Youth and Family Services is to empower underprivileged and underserved youth to excel in life through educational services, health/nutritional awareness, physical activities, social responsibility, cultural appreciation, long-term mentoring, summer employment and now hunger relief.
