The Culver City Backpacks for Kids program feeds around 100 families each weekend during the school year.
The program is completely community supported. It does not receive any funding from the School District or the state.
Food drives at supermarkets are one of our most successful fundraising events.
Would you like to volunteer to hand out flyers?
Would you like to add something to your next shopping trip and drop it off in our collection bins?
Come on down to the Ralphs at Overland and Jefferson Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 or Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4.
If you can’t make it this weekend, but still would like to help, make a donation through the website so we can optimize the dollars and buy food when needed. www.CCBackpacksforKids.com .
Note that we are only collecting a specific set of food items that are shelf-stable and components of a menu created by the Los Angeles Food Bank.
During the food drive, we need volunteers to work two-hour shifts (see below) throughout the day.
They will pass out flyers and ask people to purchase items for the backpacks while in the store. We need help gathering the food and loading it into cars to take to the pantry.
If you can find the time yourself or pass this message on to others who may be looking for service hours or just want to get involve, we would greatly appreciate it.
With Children in Mind.
