If only students were voting, the three winners in the April 12 City Council election would be:
Daniel Lee, Meghan Sahli-Wells, the only incumbent, and Scott Wyant.
After last week’s candidates forum sponsored by Michelle Mayans’s Ask2Know organization, a straw poll of 75 students brought the following scores:
- Mr. Lee, 67.
- Ms. Sahli-Wells, 62.
- Mr. Wyant, 55.
Here is a sampling of student comments about each winning contender:
Of Mr. Lee: “He seemed to be the most intelligent. He gave the best thought-out answers based
Ms. Sahli-Wells: “She was the most experienced having served on the Council and been mayor. I liked her ideas of making Culver City more bike-friendly. As the only female candidate, she would bring diversity to the Council.”
Mr. Wyant: “He brought up many issues that other candidates did not seem aware of. For example, he knew details about the natural gas storage field under Playa Vista. He also knew about the water filtration system under the Costco lot.”
