On Saturday, West Los Angeles College will host two special events open to the community.
From 10 to 2:30, a free financial seminar, led by Prof. Charles V. Daniel, a former auditor with the international accounting firm KPMG, will be offered.
From 9 to 4, master dance classes will be available in a variety of disciplines including ballet, modern, jazz, flamenco, African, salsa, Indian and others. For a $5 donation, 12 and older are invited.
The financial seminar a community service event. No products or services are being promoted or sold. “I’ve had a great career in accounting and finance,” said Prof. Daniel, President of the Los Angeles Professional Chapter of the National Assn. of Black Accountants.
Discussions will cover how to wisely manage money, avoid financial pitfalls, maintain good credit for life and identify do-able strategies to recover from financial pitfalls. Other topics: Show Me My Money (lessons on saving and spending); What Is Your Financial Life Break‐Even?, and Leasing vs. Buying. RSVP is needed at www.WLAC.edu/Events.
Dance instructors will include a former member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, local dance company directors, as well as West’s own instructors with accomplished resumes beyond the college. Registration begins at 9, and classes will be offered throughout the day in the dance rooms in the college PE Complex.
