Bankruptcy attorney Marcus Tiggs is the first City Council candidate to announce his endorsement this afternoon by the Culver City Police Officers Assn.
Although a union spokesman was not available, Mr. Tiggs was not a surprise selection because more than almost any of his six rivals in the April 12 race, his image and his background, spell law-and-order.
Mr. Tiggs ventured that his long military career may have been an influential factor. Not the only retired veteran in the race, he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, engaged in combat and was a troop leader.
Mr. Tiggs also has a lengthy record of being a police supporter, dating back, publicly, to his first pursuit of office 14 years ago.
Season that salad with one of the most congenial, low-key and knowledgeable personalities in Culver City politics, and tapping Mr. Tiggs could be a logical conclusion.
