City Council candidate Scott Wyant has been endorsed within the past several days by both the Culver City Employees Assn. and the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Assn. of Relators this week.
The diversity of support for Mr. Wyant’s campaign speaks to the breadth and depth of knowledge he has on a wide range of issues facing the city.
“When I was out walking this weekend,” he said, “people were very receptive to my message – that I am a Democrat and, aside from the incumbent, I am the only one who has real experience in governing this city.
“I am on the Planning Commission where we make real decisions. On a couple of projects, notably The Platform and The Help Group, we have been able to say ‘This is a really good project. But we can make it better. We sent the developers back, and they returned with even better projects. In one case, we had to send a developer back a second time.
“As a member of the Planning Commission, we have been making decisions that really affect the future of Culver City.
“I am proud of my record,” said Mr. Wyant. “People can look at it on television if they want to.”
The Culver City Employees Assn. endorsement reflects Mr. Wyant’s close relationship with the people who make the city run on a day-to-day basis.
He has served as a Planning Commissioner for seven years, allowing him to interact with city employees regularly.
The more people know Mr. Wyant, the more they trust him to do the job of being Council member for Culver City.
The Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Assn. of Realtors endorsement reflects the candidate’s intimate knowledge of the city and the state, his two terms of immersion in planning, and the success he’s had making this city a destination place to live and work.
“I am so proud to receive the endorsement of both of these critically important organizations,” Mr. Wyant said.
“City services and employees are one of my three campaign themes this year (‘Keep Culver City Working’). I am a proud ally of their causes.
“As for the realtors, they know that my deep background in planning and land use provides me with insights into the real estate market that puts me ahead of the competition.”
Mr. Wyant points to the renaissance of Hayden Tract, West Washington and the Arts District, as well as the Hotel District.
“The resulting revenues flowing to city coffers have enabled Culver City to maintain the enviable levels of police, fire, school and municipal services that residents have come to expect and depend upon,” he adds.
