Planet earth’s shortest political campaign won’t take long. Did it?

The race for the School Board runs, roughly, from your elbow to the top of your forearm.

Two seats open. Two persons competing.

This will be a nervous wreck’s idea of a campaign, tension-free.

Hours before the filing deadline in Norwalk, political newcomers Scott McVarish and Anne Burke remain the lone candidates for the School Board seats that Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet are voluntarily vacating.

In honor of the beginning and apparent end of the School Board campaign on Sunday afternoon, the following was dispatched to media about the campaign’s only  story last evening:

School Board candidates Scott McVarish and Anne Burke will host a kickoff party for their joint campaign, Sunday, 3-5 p.m. Meet the candidates after CicLAvia.

Location: Mike Cohen’s house: 4378 Jasmine Ave., Culver City 90232

Mr. McVarish is a parent and teacher advocate, co-founder of the United Parents of Culver City, a longtime youth volleyball coach and a volunteer at El Marino. He is an attorney and advocate for teachers and parents. His daughter is one year away from Culver City Middle School.

Anne Burke is a parent leader, having served as the PTA President of El Marino Language School and on the Council PTA for the entire District. Ms. Burke holds a masters in counseling from the LMU School of Education. She has a daughter in second grade and a son one year away from Culver City Middle School.
