It is official.
After a comprehensive screening and interview process, the School Board has selected Joshua Arnold, Ed.D., as its next superintendent.
Dr. Arnold, who has spent much of his career in Orange County, will begin leading Culver City schools on Tuesday, following the 4th of July holiday.
He succeeds Dave LaRose, who served the School District for four years.
For the past two years, Dr. Arnold, a Beverly Hills native, has been assistant superintendent of educational services for the Los Alamitos Unified School District in north Orange County. Along with creating strong professional development programs and an instructional culture of collaboration and reflection, he is known for his relationships with students, teachers, and families across various K-12 learning contexts.
After earning his bachelor of arts degree in English from UCLA, Dr. Arnold received a master’s in organizational leadership from Harvard, and a doctorate in education from USC.
A graduate of Beverly Hills High School, Dr. Arnold began his career in education as an English teacher in the Los Angeles Unified and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified school districts before becoming a school principal at Crenshaw Arts Tech Charter High and Los Alamitos High School. He also was assistant principal at Fountain Valley High, one of Orange County’s largest enrolled schools with 3,600 students.
Dr. Arnold and his wife Claire have two children, Isabella Juliet, 4, and Anthony Othello, 2. An active family, they enjoy traveling, eating out, and outdoor adventuring.
Board President Steve Levin called Dr. Arnold “a terrific, charismatic, leader who will lead CCUSD in the right direction.”
