If you are in the neighborhood of the vice mayor of Culver City tomorrow evening, step softly.
Andy Weissman and his family will celebrate arrival of the new year by retiring early because it feels right.
The vice mayor listed four reasons for spending New Year’s Eve in his favorite environment:
“It is safe. It is quiet. It is peaceful.
“Besides,” he said, “we are old.”
Along with his wife Doneil and 8-year-old granddaughter Cambria, Mr. Weissman has adopted a relaxing routine the last several years.
“We will watch the East Coast feed of New Year’s Eve from Times Square,” the vice mayor said.
“We will watch the ball drop at midnight on the East Coast, 9 o’clock our time.
“We will celebrate the New Year with our good friends on the East Coast,” he said.
Like the battery, ever ready for a slyly humorous line, Mr. Weissman added: “My sister lives in Atlanta now, so we will be celebrating when she does. At least that is what I am telling people.”
